- 2 cups of sugar.
- 3/4 cup of honey.
- 1 cup of water.
- 2 tablespoons of butter
You just mix the sugar, honey, and water in a pot and heat stirring often to soft crack stage (278 F). Soft crack stage is when dropped in cold water you can form flexible threads. Mix in the butter--don't overmix. Pour into a buttered pan and allow to cool to the point that you can touch/work with it. Butter your fingers (you'll need to re-butter a few times) and form the candy into a ball. Pull the candy repeatedly until it becomes very light, opaque, and firm. Form the candy into long ropes on a sheet of waxed paper. Using a buttered knife, cut into pieces, and wrap in wax paper. Yum.
Also, if anyone has a good saltwater taffy recipe, Rebecca now wants to try that :)
